Thanksgiving typing

by | Nov 26, 2023 | Uncategorized | 7 comments

Several years ago, I gave this repainted early Quiet-Riter to the next-door neighbor boy who was eager for a typewriter.

When attending the neighbors’ Thanksgiving feast, I was glad to see that they had the typewriter out for guests to write a collective poem. The kids were especially enthusiastic.

This young boy needed help finding the right keys.

The result began with a rhyme scheme, but ended up … otherwise.

Try this at your next gathering!

Nice-lookin' breadbin, certainly an easy machine to coax words from (:

Some years ago, I had planned to bring a typewriter to my 30-year high school reunion, and leave it out for people to type memories of the class. I didn't follow through, and still regret it.

Here is an English translation for those who need it: "On Sunday, December 17th, celebrating the 94th birthday of the family matriarch, I took an Underwood Noiseless and blue paper, and placed it on an improvised table, in front of a mirror and some props. I invited everyone present to compose a letter or poem of tribute. Elderly people, adults, young adults, teenagers and even little ones were keenly interested. At the end of the celebration we had a beautiful letter of four typed pages, in the most varied styles and feelings, a good handful of photos of people focused on their own curiosity, and soon this material will be transformed into a book to give as a gift to the woman whose birthday we celebreated! Thank you for the wonderful idea of this post, from which I took my simple typing adventure…"

Thanks !
