Front & back book cover design

by | Jun 16, 2015 | Book | 11 comments

Here’s the final design for the front and back of my book. Thanks to Alan Seaver for the shot of the little Brother! And I’m glad that in the end, the press decided to go with a closeup of my clean and shiny Tower President.

The cover will be a textured “flexibind” material; the title will be indented or “debossed” (it will feel like it’s been typed into the cover by a giant typewriter); and there’s going to be a black and red ribbon that looks like a typewriter ribbon.

Neat to see – becoming very real.

    (The shift floated away?… :)

I'm going to start hinting around that this might be a well-received gift for someone in the household (cough, cough). Congrats, can't wait to see it in hand.

Looks great Richard. Counting down the days until my copy arrives. Glad to see they cleaned up the segment, making it look nice and shiny. Very appealing. That was well worth preserving with.

Nice cover! I'm just a little surprised that your Remington Noiseless Seven wasn't used.

Thanks. Well, at least my RNP7 gets a photo inside the book — and is featured in my dedication.

Awesome! But out of your 300++ machines, a Brother gets the spotlight. It's photogenic but that's quite ironic to those who know you.

    And it's not even mine, it's Alan's!

A few more exotic items from my collection appear on the inside. However, the emphasis is on practical and available midcentury typewriters (and I have lots of those too). This is a book for typists, who may or may not be typewriter collectors.
