Hm. Sounds like some great reading. I need to learn Spanish. Regarding Butler, I’ve stubbornly stuck to her novel, Kindred, in my Am Lit course. I need to read more of her work, and a dystopian novel about resource depletion sounds like a great book for a discussion on environmental issues. The last book you mentioned sounds really interesting. I miss reading more experimental literature.

Have you read Doctorow’s Homer and Langley? Pretty cool stuff, and typewriters play a significant role for a few pages.

Hope your semester has been a smooth one.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

If I ever get caught-up on my reading list I've got to look for the last 2.

    ¡Que disfrutes!
(We are referring to Haruki Murakami's story collection Men Without Women, which I think has some similarities to Armando's work.)

Happy to hear you enjoying the read! I am on a science fiction bender, but these speculative titles are making it onto my reading list very soon. After I get through with a few more stories from Greg Egan.

Glad to hear you're enjoying 'Empty Streets'. You can't have been too far short of the typewriter mentions which are in Chapters 29 & 30 of Part 1 of the book. Ajvaz's two other novels in English translation ('The Other City' and 'The Golden Age') are also well worth reading. Also this: http://blisty.cz/video/Slavonic/Ajvaz1.htm

And thank you for your reply to my letter!

I'm glad to hear my reply arrived already. Yes, I reached the typewriter passage soon after I typed this post. I enjoyed the little vignette you link to, and look forward to the other novels, thanks.
