Just one word was legible on the old ribbon in the Erika I’m restoring: “Always.”

Nice to find something on an old ribbon. To me, it is like finding old film in an old camera, processing it and hopefully printing the photos. I doubt I'll ever get my Erika restored–needs a few type slugs. Neat color though.

Creates a mystery, but also a clue to it's unknown past. If only our writers could tell us their stories!

Once I found these words permanently inked onto the rubber platen of a white Olympia SM5: "love you mum". I imagined a grateful daughter typing those first words to thank her mum and to try out the machine but without putting in a sheet of paper first.
